Update: Squamish Nation Assistance with Rent Program (SNARP)

Hiy̓ám̓ Housing is sharing an important update about the Squamish Nation Assistance with Rent Program (SNARP).

SNARP was established in 2021, to help low and moderate-income Squamish Nation members facing financial hardship due to unaffordable rental rates. This program is part of an overall affordable housing strategy to benefit the Squamish community.

Previous Council had made a commitment to fund SNARP until the end of Year 5 which ends in June 2026.

Based on the availability of funds, we are pleased to share that we will continue to provide current recipients with the monthly rent support payment until the end of February 2027 (for rent due in March).

  • This extension is automatic.
  • Current recipients are not required to complete or submit a renewal application
  • Payments will continue to be paid directly to the eligible renter

Current SNARP recipients can expect to receive an email and/or mailed letter about their funding beginning Thursday, April 9, 2026.
